I noticed some traffic coming in from a Korean site to one of my blog entries today. I don't read Korean, so I popped the text into Sherlock for translation, and this is what I got:

Apparently the Korean text is a translation of the first paragraph of this entry. Here's the original text:

The question is, was the meaning lost in the translation to or from Korean? ;-) It must have been the retranslation--otherwise, would anyone have bothered clicking the link to my blog? Machine translation does a reasonably good job with some languages, but Korean doesn't appear to be one of them.
On the bright side, I could probably make a fortune printing the retranslation on t-shirts and selling them in Japan!

Just for the heck of it, I washed the retranslation back though an English to Korean translation and another Korean to English translation and got this:

To finish the experiment, I ran the original text through the same translation and retranslation process and got this:
