Smallville featured shower scenes again in the second episode of the season. This time it was Clark, and, oh-la-la! Lionel Luther! At least that one had a story element in it (Lionel getting stabbed). Maybe they're going for a trademark element, like "I have a bad feeling about this" in all the Star Wars movies. Maybe the writers can't figure out how to stretch an episode out to fill a full hour (or what's left of it after the seemingly increasing volume of ads). Whatever it is, it looks like a bad sign.

But that wasn't the worst of it. The previews for next week looked worse. They even advertised it as "Crypt/Tuck". Did they do market research and discover that the viewers of Smallville also watch Nip/Tuck? If they did, they certainly didn't poll me. If they didn't, then I can't fathom why they would think that their viewers would want Smallville turned into Nip/Tuck-junior. I certainly hope that's not what the other viewers want.

I doubt I'll watch next week.
